    The Big Move

    After 5 years, I finally get an office with a freaking window. KP will no longer have to room with me either. (Don't worry, we're getting cool walkie-talkies at Toys R Us to keep in contact).
     
    So anyway, I gotta move five years worth of crap into some plastic crates so the movers can wheel 'em two buildings away. But the new office is teh roxors! I'm gonna put a mini-fridge and a Barbie Townhouse in there.

    I finally did it!

    I grabbed Master Chief's ass! And have the photo to prove it.
     
    Best Buy in Bellevue was crazy fun. KP said it was the best night of his life (of course he went to Bungie's launch party and played Halo 3 with Bill Gates!)
     
    I'm so tired I can't remember my name, but check out the pics. I'll delete the crappy ones when I can see straight tomorrow.

    Major Nelson and TriXie Tokyo Death Match

    Video Monkey and I are wrapping things up at Tokyo Game Show and our final video went up today. Not wanting to look like a slacker, I went back to Xbox.com's 2006 TGS coverage to see if I was missing anything. What I discovered was that Maj and I shot virtually identical videos for the Opening Day/Cosplay stuff. Check it out for yourself!

    In Tokyo!

    Whew! Finally got settled. Here was yesterday:
     
    • 10 hour flight to Tokyo sitting next to a chatty old man with death breath.
    • 2 hour bus ride from Narita to my hotel in Shinjuku (my 'real' hotel was full)
    • Discover hotel has no room service. Lobby shop has no diet coke. But my view was AMAZING.
    • Slept for 9 hours
     
    Here was today so far:
    • Get up at 5am
    • Find nice couple from San Francisco to help me get to Shinjuku Station.
    • No English is spoken. Much pointing and sheepish smiling leads to ticket to Chiba.
    • 1 hour on the local train. Adorable 7 or 8 year old Japanse schoolgirls dressed like Madeline.
    • Arrive in Chiba, get in taxi. Taxi has doilies on the headrests.
    • Taxi driver's only English = Microsoftu? Bill Gatesu!
    • Get to hotel. Can't check in until 2pm.
    • Eat nasty breakfast.
    • Do interview with Lost Odyssey dude.
    • Go check out Xbox booth on show floor
    • Make a baby whirlm in Viva Pinata for Windows
    • Fail to roll a 50cm ball in Beautiful Katamari
    • Finally check into real room. So spectacular there must be a mistake!
    • Watch sumo wrestling on the bathroom TV
    • Go to Ninja Gaiden II interview. Bloodiest. Game. Ever.
    • Now I'm off to the TGS Xbox Community party.

    Orlando is HAWT

    Video Monkey and I arrived in Orlando yesterday. Major Nelson is still trying to get here. At this point he'll show up just before he has to go onstage...perhaps wearing the same clothes he flew in all day!
     
     
    The hotel is filling up with the WCG gamers. It's cool to see old friends.
     
    I was scared to death on the Mummy ride today. My throat is sore from screamiing.

    Randomocity: XGX, WCG, Xbox.com

    • More discussion about the GamerchiX article on Kotaku and Salon.com. A lot of people disagree with a girls-only group. I disagree that getting trashtalked and hit on is the 'cost of entry' for playing games online. If something's broken you try to fix it - in whatever small way you're able.
    • Getting ready to go on the road again: First Orlando for the World Cyber Games US Final, home for less than 24 hours, then back on a plane headed for Tokyo and Tokyo Game Show.
    • Weather in Orlando next week: 91 degrees and thunderstorms. Please no hurricanes! My hair is frizzing up at the thought.
    • Pontiac's First to Play thing. If you're in San Francisco, your chance is coming on Tuesday.
    • GamerchiX is over 3,100 girls strong now! 4 of them are going to come help me out at the Xbox booth in Orlando next week! These ladies are the BEST!
    • How did it get to be September already? I miss summer.
    • Have you checked out the Back to Old School page? We just added some new stuff yesterday including Major Nelson's Old School playlist, and GamerSpeaks about your favorite Old School movies and TV shows. Plus that Major Nelson mullet cracks me up everytime I see it!

    Most Annoying Playlist in the World

    KP is going on vacation next week, and my goal is to infect his brain with the world's most heinous --yet catchy-- tunes so that when he sees his friends he will inadvertently hum "MMMBop" and be mocked mercilessly. Yes, I actually have lots of work to do but I left my notebook in hooperkid's car when he ran out of gas and I am lost without my notes.
     
    So anyway, help me create the KP Annoyance Playlist. Here's what I've got so far:

    Trixie = "Camp Counselor, Sorority Sister, Den Mother"

    So sayeth the LA Times, who published a story today about GamerchiX! This is super cool for us. Huge thanks to reporter Alex Pham, who is a cool chick, a mom, and a kickass writer. We had a great time playing Bomberman the other night... and yes, she totally bombed the crap out of me (when I wasn't blowing myself up)!
     
     
    And if any of you live in LA and can lay hands on the print edition and send it to me, I will find some cool swag to send you!
