    So long, 2007!

2007 was a swell year. Here are some of the highlights:
    • GDC: GamerchiX represent at the Women in Gaming shindig in San Francisco.
    • ZUMA: I've beat the game over 60 times now...and still can't stop playing.
    • Kindle: My new best friend.
    • PAX: so fun hanging out with Xbox community peeps! And dressing up Feelz Good.
    • FREEDOM FEST! Those of you who were there remember the fun.
    • E3: best part was meeting Fruit Brute and Tiny Dancer. Worst was the infamous bullride.
    • Tokyo Game Show: Was great to finally visit Japan. But the food sucked.
    • LA Times: was awesome to have GamerchiX featured on the front page of the Business section!
    • KOMO TV: Apparently I was on the local evening news talking about women in the games industry. I didn't see it, but other people did.
    • World Cyber Games: My favorite part of my job took me to New York, Cancun, Singapore, and Orlando. Best part was Team USA's triumph!!
    • UCLA: being invited to speak at the iConference 2008. Pretty cool for a college dropout to be a keynote speaker for a bunch of grad students!
    • New Music: I became big fans of Queens of the Stone Age after a front-row seat at their concert at a Rock Band party. And I discovered Rock Kills Kid when they played WCG Grand Finals (and let me play Rock Band with them)
    • Medals: Getting to hang medals around the necks of Team USA's top three PGR 3 players in Orlando.
    • SPIKE: was cool hanging with Geoff and Jamie from Game Head in Cancun, Santa Monica, Orlando and Seattle. Maj and I even made a couple episodes of their WCG coverage.

This is getting too long. There are many many more highlights... too many to list. Suffice it to say this was a truly great year working with the Xbox Community!

    We haz bloopers!

If you're in the US, check out Inside Xbox today for a short video of just some of the outtakes, bloopers and f-ups that Major Nelson and I have managed to commit in the three short weeks the feature has been live.

I've seen it a crapload of times and it still makes me laugh.

Did anyone else notice that Maj racked up all his goofs during ONE shoot? 3...2...1... Surprised

Update: Godfree put the video on youtube so those of you not in the US can check it out! Thanks Godfree!

    TriXie's Mailbag

Well, the arrival of Inside Xbox on Dec 4 has caused a great surge in the volume of trixiemail. I have received hundreds of really nice messages, a handful of super vile insults, and one marriage proposal. Many many people have questions, and I'd like to answer the most common ones. I guess that would make this a TriXie FAQ?

    • Anyone can join the Xbox All-Nighter; you don't have to sign up. It starts at sundown on Dec 22 and ends at sunup on Dec 23.
    • No, I'd really rather not see a picture of that. Nor am I interested in interacting with it in any way.
    • If you want to play with the Frag Dolls, send me an email at xlmail@microsoft.com. Subject: Frag Doll Friday.
    • Yes, they are real.
    • GamerchiX is not like Frag Doll Friday. It's a chance for girls to play together. That's why we called it Ladies Night.
    • I'd love to mention your birthday on Inside Xbox, but I've already filmed next week's segment. I need a couple week's warning.
    • I'm not declining your Friend Request. My Friends List is completely full, so I don't even get the requests.
    • Yeah, well, the camera adds a few pounds.
    • You can't get demos and trailers for M-rated games because that would be advertising Mature titles to minors. And the ESRB would spank us.
    • No, Major Nelson is not my boyfriend. He is happily married to a very cool chick.
    • Wow that little emoticon looks exactly like breasts. How clever you are.
    • I love you too.

    Kurrently on Kindle

I've had my Kindle for 12 days. So far I have read six books. I read a lot, but I don't normally read three books a week. Part of the reason is that I've been staying up too late reading.

    The Kindle Kount:
    1. The Brief Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao (fat Dominican kid in Jersey loves sci-fi, can't get laid. Hilarious. Junot Diaz = my hero)
    2. The Constant Princess (downloaded at Red Robin to show my mom how fast the Kindle is. download took 21 seconds)
    3. The Year of Living Bibically (hilarious! by Esquire's "Answer Fella")
    4. The Count of Monte Cristo (read it! There's escape, treasure, betrayal, vengeance, poison, duelling and even some girl on girl action for you frat boys)
    5. The Night Ferry (good thriller/mystery by Michael Robotham. Heh heh. Robot... HAM)
    6. Garnethill (one of my new favorite writers Denise Mina writes about plucky foulmouthed wee Scottish lasses who kick ass and solve crimes)

Biggest OMG moments with the Kindle so far:
    1. I accidentally left it at work and went back to the office at 10:30pm to retrieve it. I saw a bunny hopping across the building entryway. I'm not even kidding--a real bunny!
    2. New York Times Book Review on my FREAKING KINDLE!  Do you think Kindle has a community type thing? Do you think they need a TriXie? Wink

    Inside Xbox - Feedback Wanted!

Those of you in the US, UK and Japan got a new Dashboard feature this week: Inside Xbox.

This a new way to deliver Xbox.com and community news directly to your Xbox 360.

It's so new in fact that we need your help. Please take a look and let us know if you like what you see, if there are things you don't like, and mostly what you'd like to see in the future. You can post comments here and I will pass them on to the team, or you can leave your feedback in the Inside Xbox forum (and see other people's suggestions).

For those of you outside the three countries mentioned above--fear not! Inside Xbox will be expanding its reach into more regions, and the content will come to you from your own regional Xbox teams, making the content relevant for you!
